Dec 6, 2013 –PLEA Community Services Society of BC announces that it has been awarded accreditation for a five-year period by Imagine Canada, the national organization that supports charities and non-profits. Only 82 organizations to date across the country hold Imagine Canada accreditation status and PLEA is among only a handful of charities in British Columbia to achieve this distinction.

The goal of the Imagine Canada Standards Program is to strengthen the practices of Canadian charities and non-profits and elevate public confidence in the sector as a whole. Imagine Canada carefully evaluates an organization’s policies and procedures in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement, and awards accreditation if the panel of independent peer reviewers confirm compliance with rigorous, externally established standards.

“We are proud to achieve such a unique and important distinction, which emphasizes our commitment to best practices in governance and management,” said Timothy Agg, Executive Director of PLEA Community Services Society. “Our donors, partners and community can feel confident in the continuing excellent work of our organization.”
