Advancing Best Practice: A Review of Full-Time Attendance Programs for Youth in British Columbia

Event Date:
June 20, 2014

The full-time attendance program (FTAP) review has been a partnership between the Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Provincial Association of Residential and Community Agencies (PARCA).

Youth justice FTAPs are commonly used as an alternative to the court sentencing a youth to custody, and are a more intensive, residential option available to youth on community supervision orders.

The FTAP review consisted of extensive community consultation, a formal literature review and statistical analysis. Its purpose was to examine BC’s FTAP programs for responsiveness to the needs of youth, appropriateness, and cost effectiveness.

You can access the review at www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/reports_publications.htm or at http://www.parca.ca/announcements.php

Consultations on the review will remain open until July 4, 2014.

Comments should be directed to the Ministry of Children and Family Development at YouthJustice@gov.bc.ca and PARCA at parca@plea.bc.ca.
